George to Oudtshoorn – approximately 80km
Day 1 starts with a short tar ride from Fancourt to the base of the Montagu Pass. Once on the pass, it’s beautiful gravel to the outskirts of Oudtshoorn. The Pass is an iconic part of the JanBraai Cycle Tour’s first stage and the ideal way to begin your three-day journey. Stop and enjoy the views, or race our resident pro to the top for bragging rights. The first braai of the Tour takes place at Thorny Creek Brewery
Climbing for the day totals 960m.
Day 2 – 30 November
Oudtshoorn to Calitzdorp – approximately 85km
After a relaxing night in Oudtshoorn, the Tour heads towards the base of the Swartberg Mountains. The first 4okm of the stage is a brisk tar ride as we make our way to the first stop at Swartberg Country Manor. After the manor, participants will enjoy an incredible 45km ride towards Calitzdorp through Kruisrivier and then Groenfontein. Rolling hills, rapid descents and a fast final 20km make the second day fly by.
Climbing for the day is 1125m.
Day 3 – 1 December
Oudtshoorn to George – approximately 87km
After bussing back to Oudtshoorn from Calitzdorp, riders will spend the penultimate evening of the JanBraai Cycle Tour around the braai fire, recounting stories of an excellent day 2. The final day’s ride will then take riders from Oudtshoorn back to George, finishing officially at Herold Wines, before rolling back down Montagu Pass into George.
